Hello, I have just been reading your stories about Deaf Dogs doing Agility.
I have a Deaf Dog - he is a Blue Merle called Jasper. He was abandoned when he was just 5 weeks old.
He was found and taken to the Dogs Trust Rescue Centre in Bridgend.
From there he was rehomed several times until we got him when he was about 7 or 8 months old.
I moved to West Sussex and started doing Agility with him. Being a Collie Cross and intelligent,
I thought I would give it a go. It was hard at first, but with lots of patience and hand signals, we did well.
I have now been doing it with him for over a year - but only for fun.
He loves it, but he does tend to have a mad 5 minutes running around when he is off lead.
It is enclosed where we go so he thinks it is great !!!
I am not sure if we will enter any competitions - we will have to wait and see, but once he goes, he is fast.
I also do Obedience with him, and he is a Registered PAT (Pets For Therapy) Dog.
I am very proud of my Jasper - It is so rewarding to see him enjoying life.
I have enclosed some pictures so you can show other people what can be done with a Deaf Dog.
I hope you like them.
