Despite much effort by the Banks and Building Society’s,
problems with the use of Hole In The Wall - Cash Machines continue.
Organised gangs of criminals are attaching devices to Cash Machines, so that when you use them the details from your card are copied, and used to produce Cloned Cards which are then used
to buy services and products that you will be charged for.
This is happening up and down the country at Cash Machines in shopping centres, railway stations, and any other location where the devices can be attached without the criminals being spotted.
The following information was given to us by the Britsh Transport Police
following several devices being found on Cash Machines located within London Underground Stations.
The first picture details how the Barclays cash machine normally looks.
The criminals have been fitting portable card readers to the machines which clone the card details.
The second picture details how the cash machine looks
after the cloning device has been fitted with double sided tape.
If you become aware that a device has been fitted to a cash machine,
Do Not Use It,
but please contact the Police immediately.
A work colleague of Tim’s had his card cloned in a shopping arcade within Canary Wharf.
The criminals had taken over £2000 out of his account before he knew what was happening.
As well as the financial hardship, it was extremely distressing for him and his family.
